July 2020
This months painting
I have been painting one painting a month since august 2015. This months painting is the 60th painting I have done in this series. With the paintings I am among other things researching how labor time and material is correlated with the production of a painting. I am thinking of this practice as a sort of mining of paintings, as in mining for cryptocurrencies and the project were originally started as a direct inspiration from bitcoin mining. One could say that I by making one new painting a month are using my time to mine my own currency.
‘I Owe You I/V’ is the painting of this month and refer directly to this theme in its title. I Owe yoU stands for IOU an informal document acknowledging of debt. Money somehow has its beginning in these notes and is as such a note of debt.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you like this painting, I would love to tell you more about it.
What has happened lately
Rarible
Since the beginning of July I have been tokenizing digital artworks on Rarible. I release work on Rarible because I like how the project treats all works of art equal and horizontal and because I think that it is important to contribute to an uncensored and democratic visual discussion. Follow this link to see the works.
To celebrate that I have begun releasing work on Rarible I give away one copy of the artwork ‘In contrast to now V/V’. You just have to send me a mail with your eth-address to get a chance to be the lucky new owner. If you do not have an eth-address then let me know and I will help you get on board.
Plasma in DEX garden
My upcoming sound-art album ‘Plasma in DEX garden’ is finally finished and has been set to be released on ‘Clang records’ later this fall. I have been working on the album since 2018 so I am very exited to see it unfold when its finally out in the wild. I will let you know more about the release date and release-exhibition when I know more. Until then you can hear the two other albums I have released with Clang by following this link.
What is happening next
Collaboration with DAOrecords
I have begun a collaboration with DAOrecords. Together with DAOrecords I will explore the opportunities to distribute sound-art through blockchain technology. I am super exited to be working with them and are looking forward to present you to the development of the collaboration in a future newsletter. Until then you can have a look at their work and record-label by clicking on this link.
As always, let me know what you think about the update and my work. Drop me an e-mail at mail@jonaskasperjensen.com
