Press release:

Listening to Jonas Kasper Jensen´s first NFT album ‘Remembrance of future past’ is like dipping one´s ears into a stream that flows between the future and the past. The movement of the soundscapes reflects something immaterial and imagined that becomes a real, physical world. It is as the intangible for a moment converged with the tangible, and that the past and future meets, stands still and gets duration. As such the eight tracks and the eight sculptures explores a moment that is stretched from the future into the past.

The title of the release has been taken from both the trilogy ´Remembrance of Earth’s past’ by Liu Cixin in which the protagonist visits a huge stone memorial of the earth after it has been demolished by aliens and by the book ‘2001: A space Odyssey’ by Arthur C. Clarke in which the sentence ‘Remembrance of the past’ is written just before the primitive apes meet the black monolith for the first time. Both sound pieces and sculptures use these two episodes of the books as the foundation of the image and sound.

The 3D sculptures are made from photographs of basements in now demolished buildings in the former DDR Germany. In the gravestone like sculptures there are traces of violence and decay thus, the release is also a concreate visual and audible elaboration on cultural conflicts and a reminder of how the mistakes of the past reality might bend into the new i.e., the virtual reality.

Remembrance of future past’ is a monumental series of eight sound pieces and accompanying 3D sculptures. At the release of ‘Remembrance of future past’ in Cryptovoxels you will be able to see the sculptures transformed into Voxels and you can hear each track in its full length. The sound pieces and their accompanying sculptures can also be purchased as single edition NFTs with the full length sound piece and 3D sculptures as unlockable content on Mintbase during and after the opening.
